Annual Barbecue – Friday 21 June

On a lovely sunny evening, the BBQ went off well with 44 members attending. A total of £230 was raised which will go to club funds.

The Club President, Brian Storey, thanks all those who helped: everyone there for attending, Kay & Lorna for organising the event, Alan for making sure it went without a hitch, Barry for being Bar Manager and Colin for supplying us with the most delicious food.

Taster Day – Day 2

Saturday 18th May

16 people turned up for the second and final Taster Day and had a good day without the expected rain. It is now hoped that many of them will take up our offer of temporary membership for 2 months before attending our 1-day beginners’ course on 28th June.

Again, two people had 3 wins each and a shoot-out at the peg decided the winner, which Andrew hit with his first shot!

Taster Day – Day 1

Bowdon Croquet, welcomes visitors for the first of this seasons taster days.

14 people turned up on Thursday, 18th April, and enjoyed a day at the club on a nice, warm day.

Two people had 3 wins each and a shoot-out at the peg decided the winner… and Nina was the first to hit it! Charles Harding congratulates Nina on her win.

Although 2 people had to leave early, 11 of the remaining 12 have signed up for temporary membership of 2 months before attending our 1-day beginners’ course in late June.

Hot Pot Supper

39 people turned up for the first annual social evening of the year where the club raised £373 towards club funds.

Many thanks go to Alan, Kay & Lorna for organising the event, to all those people who helped make and prepare the food and all those who gave raffle prizes.

A special thank you goes to Janet for providing us all with another interesting quiz to do, with a prize going to the winning table!

Charity 1-Ball Event

This year the Charity 1-Ball event was in aid of Alzheimer’s Society and the colour was blue. 36 members turned up to support Alzheimer’s Society and raised £230. Thanks for all your support. The top 3 or 4 winners are invited to attend the National Charity 1-Ball to be held at Surbiton on 12th May.

The winner was Graham Good, with second place going to Lorna Frost, and third place was shared between Ken Cooper and Margaret Moss.

Lorna, Graham and Ken all looking pleased with themselves, and so they should be!

Winter 1-Ball 2018/19 Week 20 – Final Week

On a glorious Wednesday the final 1-Ball competition saw Tim McCoy and George Kistruck winning through the knockout stages to compete in the 3 game final.
Tim took an early lead to win the 1st game but George fought back to win the next game. In the exciting decider George managed to win by 3 hoops + peg.
