Winter One Ball – FINAL WEEK 19 – 14th March 2026

England vs Spain – International Test Match

You may recall Bowdon was asked last year by Croquet England if we would like to host this prestigious international match between England and Spain. Since then the club has been preparing for the event.

The match takes place on Friday 19th June and finishes on Sunday 21st June. The match comprises of a series of doubles and singles matches, typically in previous events the double takes place Friday and Saturday and the singles start on Saturday and finish on Sunday.

The England team has just been selected and is captained by ex Bowdon member J-P Moberley. The rest of the team is: Euan Burridge, Callum Johnson, Stephen Mulliner, Tobi Savage and Aston Wade. With Sam Cuthbert and Stuart M Smith as first and second reserve.

There will quite a few jobs that need doing over the course of the next few months to make sure the event is a success, if you would like to volunteer your services please contact Gaynor Edwards. Email: bowdoncroquettreasurer@gmail.com

Many thanks

Tournament Catering – A call for Volunteers

At the last AGM the Committee were asked to consider providing catering for the main tournaments – a simple lunch and some cake for tea. We would need volunteers to help with:

  • Food preparation
  • Serving and clearing away
  • Loading and unloading dishwashers etc.

It would be good to get a team of people to share the load – and there is always a free lunch and cake!

You don’t have to stay for the whole day, it needs 2 or 3 people for lunch and 1 (or2) people to put cakes out for tea.

Lorna will put lists up in the clubhouse for you to sign if you are able to help.

Thank you.
