CqE AC Open Championships – 5th – 13th July

Bowdon members, Alison Maugham, Euan Burridge and Jack Good are trying their hands at the Open AC championships, for both Doubles and Singles. Alison is taking part in both the doubles and Singles and its Singles too for Euan and Jack. We wish them well.

Alison was unfortunately knocked out in the first round of the doubles with her partner Nigel Polhill. However they subsequently found their form and won the Doubles Plate beating Mike Town and David Warhurst 23 – 19 & 26 – 3. Well done Alison and Nigel.

Jack and Euan sailed through the qualification rounds making to the Championships proper.

Euan had a bye in the first round, playing Gabrielle Higgins in the second round, winning 10-26, 26-22 and 26-15. Euan’s next opponent was James Death, James was on form, beating Euan 26TP-17 and 26TP – 2.

Jack also had a bye in the first round and was drawn to play Robert Fulford in the second round, Robert was just too good for Jack, beating him 26-23, 23-26 and 26-3 in the decider. Robert went on to play Jenny Clarke in the Final and won the Championship by beating Jenny 26TP-7 and 26-19. Jack did go on to win the Singles Z Consolation knockout beatiing David Fuller 26-0.
