2024 AGM – Presidential Address

Many of you will know that Brian Storey has been the clubs president for six years and this year was Brians last. Every AGM Brian prepares his address, if you like a review of the year from his point of view. In case you missed it here it is.

Those of you who have ventured to some Supermarkets or Airport Terminals will have undoubtedly heard the automated plea of “Approaching landing level, please take care”. This is appropriate for those of us who are serving their last few months in Club Positions or on the Club Committee and have decided to retire gracefully rather than seek another term.

Two notable club stalwarts Alan Mayne and Kay Martin come to mind. Whoever replaces them has big shoes to hill. Thank you both for your exceptional service. Whilst writing about individuals who give more than their fair share, I need to mention one person with a commitment, with others, too numerous to mention, that has resulted in a steady increase in membership – Adrian Apps. Thank you.

It’s fair to say that this AGM 2024 will be transformative, with, like a well known political party, “difficult decisions” to make about funding of lawn maintenance being one of them. Give some thought to what you want from the Club.

On the playing scene the Club has won or come close to winning local leagues and does well in National events too. Jack Good has kept up his great progress towards dominance at the highest level and now seems to hold more trophies than many top Association Football Clubs. We wish him well with his exploits and also University studies.

Finally, it’s been a great honour to have been your President over the last six years (where did they go) and hope you give my successor the continued support you have given to me.

Thank you and
That’s all folks!
Brian Storey,
BCC President.
