On 11th October, we welcomed Martin Evans, Chris’ son, and his wife Angela to Bowdon. Along with Carol Steinberg, they came to present the Club with the Chris Evans Memorial Trophy. The trophy was received by our President, Brian Storey, who thanked Martin, on behalf of Chris’s family for their generosity.
The Committee have decided that it should be presented each year to the Club’s Most Improved Player.
Martin was then able to present the trophy to its inaugural winner, Nigel Matthews. Nigel has continued to make great progress this year, in both AC & GC. Nigel thanked everyone who had helped with his development.
The third picture is the bench donated in Chris’ memory.
After their visit, Martin thanked the club for their warm welcome and said that he could now fully understand why Chris had such a great time at the Club & enjoyed the challenge of playing croquet.
