Graham and Jack Good in Cheltenham Ascot GC qualifier, 28-29 May

Last weekend Graham and Jack went to the Cheltenham GC Championship Series qualifier.

Taking a break from his GCSE’s, Jack entered the Cheltenham Ascot – his first croquet since the Inter-Club Final in September. Cheltenham had 18 withdrawals, so Graham was persuaded to play.

Jack won all his block games and in the round of 16 was ‘drawn’ against Graham who had won 3 of his 6 block games! Jack won 7-5, 7-5. On Sunday Jack won his quarter-final against Lionel Tibble 7-4, 7-3 and his semi-final against Nick Saxton 7-5, 7-3.

In the final Jack played James Death on his ‘home’ club lawns, Jack lost 7-1 in the first game, but found more control in an improved second game which James came through to win 7-5 and take the title. As the losing finalist Jack automatically qualifies for the end of season Ascot Final, again at Cheltenham!

Well done Jack and Graham.
