Club Member, John-Paul Moberly, captained the England team at the WCF GC World Teams Championship, held in Nelson, New Zealand, between 6th – 12th January. Also in the England team are Richard Bilton, Tobi Savage & Stephen Mulliner. England played in Block B, along with New Zealand (the 2016 defending champions), Australia & Ireland. Block A had Egypt, the 2012 winners, USA, South Africa & Sweden. The teams played each other team in their block in one-day Test Matches. The top two in each block progressed to the semi-finals, finals and third/fourth place play-off. The bottom two in each block played a Plate event, in which the main objective is to avoid being eighth and, hence, relegated to Tier 2 for the next Championship in 2024
The England team finished 2nd place in Group B, thus qualifying for the semi-finals. There, they lost to the winners of Group A, Egypt, so played USA, the other losing semi-finalists in the 3rd/4th place play-off. They won this match which meant a 3rd place finish overall.
