DAVID WALTERS WINS NW FEDERATION MILLENNIUM ADVANCED TOURNAMENT
Fylde, 8th-9th April

Bowdon C.C. had 2 entrants at this year's event: David Walters in the A-Class section and Charles Harding in the Handicap 3+ section

A fine week-end, croquet & weather, superbly managed by Peter Wilson.
The A-Class was played as a all-play-all block of 8, with 2.5 hour time limits plus 2 Wharrad turns if required.  With the benefit of a set of tertiary coloured balls borrowed from Bury, triple banking was used with few issues.  The early season conditions made peeling turns more challenging than usual, but the weather was kind with bright sunshine providing welcome warmth until Sunday afternoon.  A three-way tie looked likely, until the manager (Paul Rigge) lost in the final round, leaving Lee Hartley & David on 6 wins out of 7: David received the trophy on the who-beat-who tie breaker.

There were six entries in the 'B' class, referred to as 'The Children', by Mr.Rigge, played all-play-all.  Entertaining croquet was played by all, none of that fancy peeling stuff. Sadly, David Barrett had to retire injured Sunday pm.  Finally, Ian Hall emerged as the clear victor with most wins.
