BOWDON CROQUET MATTERS WORKSHOP
Bowdon Clubhouse, Saturday, 9th February, 10.30am - 1pm

31 Bowdon members attended the above workshop, which was facilitated by Dave Gunn, the CA's National Development Officer; Sarah Andrew, our NW Federation Development Officer, also attended.

The Sport England Club Matters framework (https://www.sportenglandclubmatters.com) was used to assess how the club is currently performing and where we believe we should focus our efforts in future. A good discussion took place but there was not enough time to complete the whole survey. Scores for the sections covered were recorded and the results will be published in due course for members to comment on.

NEW YEAR ONE-DAY WINTER COMPETITIONS

The next round of games was on Sunday, 10th February, when the February Short Croquet Competition took place. ENTRIES FOR INTERNAL CLUB COMPETITIONS

Entries are now invited for the internal club competitions. An online entry form can be found by clicking here, although some paper copies can be found in the clubhouse, but it is hoped that most people will print their own. A folder will be placed on the bar in which completed forms can be placed along with the relevant payment by cheque; alternatively, they can be posted to Steve Reynolds.

The closing date for entries is 8th March and it is hoped to post the draws up in the clubhouse and online by the beginning of April.

BECOME A C.A. CLUB COACH
BURY CC, WHITEHEAD PARK, 13th APRIL

Don Williamson is running the above course at Bury CC, Whitehead Park, on Saturday, 13th April, from 10am - 4.30pm(ish). Anyone who fancies going into coaching or who just fancies helping the club coaches at Taster Days etc. can attend this course free of charge. The course is for both AC and GC players and aims at developing their coaching skills. Whether you want to go on to become a qualified CA coach or not, you will find that coaching others can significantly improve your own game. You are expected to have a working knowledge of the Laws of AC or the Rules of GC.

Please let David Walters or Ken Cooper know ASAP if you want to attend.

MONDAY SHORT COMPETITIONS

Please note that the Monday Short competitions, which are open to all, started on Monday, 8th October, at 11am and will continue throughout the winter months at the same time, weather permitting. Just turn up at the club each week for the draw at 10.45am.

BRIDGE & CANASTA AT THE CLUB
To take the place of croquet over the winter months, why not come down and play Bridge and/or Canasta?
Even if you've never played before, there will be people there who can teach you.

On Monday evenings, Bridge will be played every week, unless there is a committee meeting in the clubhouse, which is held on the second Monday of each month (except in November).
Come down to the club in readiness for play to begin at 7pm.

Canasta sessions will be held twice a week:
     - on Tuesdays, please bring your own lunch to the club at around 12.30pm; play will begin soon after and will go on until approx. 4pm.
 - on Wednesdays, play will start straight after the weekly 1-Ball comp.
