CLUB COMPETITION RULES 2017
An updated set of internal club competition rules for the coming season has been produced and they can be viewed by clicking here; a full set of printed rules will appear on the club notice board in due course

LAWNS CLOSED
The heavy rain has caused most of the lawns to be closed - only lawn 3 and the lower middle lawn are playable so Winter Comp. quarter-final games can still be played. However, the last Wednesday Comp. of the year had to be cancelled as there was heavy rain overnight. This means that the league table, as it stands, provides the finalists for Finals Day on 29th March for the top 8 players (although the top 12 should all be on standby in case any qualifier cannot make the date). Other players may enjoy a normal One-Ball competition on Finals Day, but scoring will not count towards anything.

CHARITY ONE-BALL, Wednesday 15th March

This year, our annual Charity 1-Ball Day was held in aid of Parkinson's UK and 40 members played on a gloriously sunny day. The winner was Graham Good and a sum of 276.25 was raised which, along with Gift Aid, means that much more will go to this worthy cause. Thank you, everybody, for making the day a great success. The colour theme this year was blue and you should see all of the colourful clothing that the competitors were wearing!

The money raised enables us to send at least 5 players to Surbiton for the National Charity 1-Ball Final in Surbiton later in the year so, if anyone wishes to go, please let Alan know.

BRIDGE & CANASTA AT THE CLUB
To take the place of croquet over the winter months, why not come down and play Bridge and/or Canasta?
Even if you've never played before, there will be people there who can teach you.

On Monday evenings, Bridge will be played every week, unless there is a committee meeting in the clubhouse, which is held on the second Monday of each month (except in November).
Come down to the club in readiness for play to begin at 7pm.

Canasta sessions will be held twice a week:
     - on Tuesdays, please bring your own lunch to the club at around 12.30pm; play will begin soon after and will go on until approx. 4pm.
 - on Wednesdays, play will start straight after the weekly 1-Ball comp.
YOUTH CLUB

The YOUTH CLUB (all ages welcome) has recommenced for the winter, in the Clubhouse.
Please pop down EVERY FRIDAY from 8pm onwards for a drink and a chat or to play pool, cards or whatever.
ALL PLAYING AND SOCIAL MEMBERS ARE WELCOME, hope to see you there.

Welcome to Bowdon Croquet Club 2017...

...where croquet is played on most days of the year.

We are a thriving active club and welcome new members (see New Members section for an application form or just come and visit).

The club has room for four superb full size lawns maintained to a high standard providing first class playing facilities to all members.

A six-week beginners' coaching course is held every summer from May into June, at a cost of around 35.
Bowdon members who joined during the last year can also attend, if they so desire, free of charge.
To book, or for more details, please contact Charles on 0161 980 6419. Coaching is also available free on a one-to-one basis at all times.

The 2017 croquet season runs from late March until October when three full size lawns and two short lawns are laid out.
Limited play is permitted during the winter months.

Bowdon hosts several Croquet Association tournaments and internationals each year.
In 2017 these are:

The May Handicap Weekend (April/May)
The June Advanced Weekend
